Fan Groups

The Houston Area Ghostbusters is a fan group made up of a variety of personalities that has been cleaning up the town since 2009. As fans of Ghostbusters, we painstakingly recreate the props and costumes from the movies, cartoons, games, and comics.

As a group, we suit up and go to events such as strolling around festivals, screenings of the movies, marching in parades, sci-fi conventions, or raising money for charities. Our primary goal is to have fun doing something we love, and by doing so, we hope that others around us have a great time, too.

The Mighty Morphin' Texas Rangers are a group of Power Ranger cosplayers from all over the great Lone Star State. Our goal is to connect with other Rangers in the state, to discuss costumes, props and to coordinate for events and conventions. But most of all, we're here to have fun!

Based out of Houston Texas, and with membership from all over the far southeast of Texas, the USS Zavala is a chapter of Starfleet International, the oldest continuously operating Star Trek fan organization in the world. We dedicate ourselves to the ideals of diplomacy, justice, and the pursuit of knowledge espoused in the Star Trek genre. With members from all walks of life, and varying philosophies and approaches, we combine our diverse talents and individual abilities to accomplish our goals. Among them: fund raising for Toys for Tots, the Houston Food Bank, One Laptop per Child, the Galveston Historical Society, and other charities our members care about; making new friends and expanding our networks; and above all else having fun.

Star Garrison represents the Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas regions of the 501st Legion (aka Vader’s Fist), a worldwide Star Wars fan club celebrating the Star Wars universe using costumes and props, in particular those of the Stormtrooper characters, Imperial forces, and other various "bad guy" characters. The Legion is a volunteer club formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts and giving them a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion's aims are to celebrate the Star Wars movies through the wearing of costumes, to promote the quality and improvement of costumes and props, and — most importantly — to contribute to the local community through charity and volunteer work.

Put simply, the U.S.S. Navras can be defined as another in a long list of Star Trek fan clubs. The problem is that that description doesn’t really do us justice, because it fails to properly explain the actual depth of who and what we are– which is a group of devoted Star Trek fans, young and old, from every walk of life, who have come together to make something very special and very unique to Star Trek fandom.

The U.S.S. Navras is a correspondence chapter of STARFLEET, The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc.– meaning that men, women, and children from all over the world can actively join and participate in what we have to offer. But more than that, we are a ship of people with fresh ideas and eager ambitions who are looking to revolutionize the way people conceive Star Trek fandom. We make event appearances in full uniform and prosthetic makeup, we organize ceremonies and tournaments, we play games (both online and offline) with each other, we collect for a number of charities, and we promote an interest and appreciation in Gene Roddenberry’s legacy to the very best of our ability.

We also extend an open invitation to those like-minded individuals, regardless of who or what they are, to join us in our efforts and our adventures. And while we are based out of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, we strongly encourage people from all over Texas, surrounding states, and across the world -- to not only join us, but to get your friends and family involved as well! Put together your own ‘Away Team’ to make costumed appearances with. You’ll never experience anything quite like the magic that happens when you and a half-dozen of your friends show up at a convention in uniform and makeup.

The Doctor Who Fan Club of Texas on Facebook was started by Jewel Lee M Wynn in Spring of 2008. It is based out of Austin Texas as a Facebook Fan Club that participates in holding watch parties in Austin Texas and is looking to expand their club all over Texas call "Branches".

We are bound together by the love of Doctor Who and living the values we share as Doctor Who fans. There are over 300 members online and our membership keeps growing. We hope to share our common Love for the show and continue our online and real life friendships. So please come visit us, make new friends, and keep watching Doctor Who!

Two years ago Hasbro recreated a children's show and called it "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic". Then something strange happened. Adults watched, women watched, men watched, and it started a cultural revolution. We are the Houston Bronies. (Bro's who like pony's.) Undeterred by it's fluffy outward appearance we embraced the show, and the massive internet community it has spawned. We sing, we gather, we create and we make friends. We are a fan/costuming group based out of Lafayette, Louisiana. We have open membership and encourage anyone interested in Stargate cosplay or roleplaying to join. There are no dues and no minimum attendance at conventions and events. It is purely for fun. We attend conventions in Louisiana and neighboring states and also hold other events such as airsoft battles, BBQs, camping weekends, etc. Our goal is to have a little fun and when possible to raise some money for local charities.

Midnight Magnolias is the local affiliate of the Mind's Eye Society or MES. The MES is part of a global community of live-action-role-players who share the common universe of the World of Darkness. Midnight Magnolias is launching two Vampire the Masquerade venues, a Werewolf the Apocalypse venue, and a combined New World of Darkness venue never before played before known as "The Accord" starting in June 2013. If you have ever been curious about LARPing or would just like to observe, please join us at our recruitment games or visit us at our official table.

The goal of the Lone Star Jedi is to provide local fans with opportunities to meet other fans who reside inCentral Texas who share a love for swordsmanship, costuming (or cos play), and stage combat. The Lone Star Jedi perform functions to benefit the community and local charity organizations such as, but not limited to fundraisers, toy drives, food drives, conventions, and choreographed lightsaber combat shows through the use of battle sabers. Opportunities through the group may include but not be limited to online activities, club meetings, professional and amateur sword instruction, sword building or saber smithy, fan films, other fun activities, and a way of providing a connective matrix to other Star Wars fans, Jedi Martial Art fans and swords persons in the surrounding areas.

We are the Houston area Firefly/ Serenity Fan base. Active since 2004, this very eclectic, enthusiastic, smart, and fun-loving group holds multiple shindigs every month. We have even had rolling shindigs to other cities to meet up with other fellow Browncoats, Train Jobs, and Beach Shindigs are also popular. The group is primarily a social group but they enjoy doing good works, to date the group has donated DVD’s to the Fort Bend Library System, Donated money to help with Katrina Disaster Relief, participated in Firefly for Firefighters, and proudly supports Equality Now. The group is co-captained by artcat and Valgrl. Our official tri-monthly ‘meet ups’ are the first, second and third Saturday of the month.
